Mah: Jain delegation seeks implementation of cow-slaughter ban

A delegation of Jain religious leaders and community members today met Maharashtra Governor K Sankaranarayanan here and requested him to ensure implementation of a state law which bans the cow slaughter.
The delegation, led by BJP MLA Mangal Prabhat Lodha, requested the Governor to direct the state government to take necessary steps for the immediate implementation of the law, a Raj Bhavan spokesperson said.
Lodha said that the state legislature passed a bill banning the cow slaughter 18 years ago. The bill was then referred by the state government to the Centre, which asked for a detailed report, but despite three reminders the state government had not submitted it yet.
