All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has termed as "anti-minority" the maiden budget (2015-16) presented in the Legislative Assembly by the BJP government today.
"There was no announcement to upgrade the social, education and economic status of minorities and specially Muslims in the state," said party MLA Imtiaz Jaleel.
By granting a meagre sum of Rs 25 crore for 440 villages that have a minority population of more than 50 per cent, the government has tried to fool the community, he said.
Jaleel, however, hailed the government's move to hike the allocation to the Maulana Azad Finance Corporation to Rs 150 crore.
However, rampant corruption also needs to be checked apart from the touts who are fleecing the beneficiaries, he said.
There is no mention of overall development of minorities and specially about their education, Jaleel added.
Finance Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar today presented a surplus budget of Rs 107.10 crore in the Assembly.
