The drive was carried out under the name 'Operation Mumbra' under supervision of Civic Commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal and Thane Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh, a TMC release said.
A total of 1,196 illegal structures were pulled down in the drive. A large number of police and other security personnel were deployed for it, officials said.
Among those structures which were pulled down include 182 galas of tin, 158 pucca galas, 182 stalls, 456 sheds, 68 Chinese and chicken stalls, 64 garages, 80 tea stalls, 4 timber marts, and two shops which were being operated from containers, it said.
