Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan took stock of the law and order situation and decided that the government will bear the expenses of the last rites of those who lost their lives and medical expenses of the injured, official sources said.

In the violence, four persons were killed, 19 police officers, 102 policemen and 100 locals were injured.

Curfew has been imposed in the areas of the city that were hit by the clashes.

The clashes between two communities broke out in the market areas after the India-Pakistan match in Delhi ended, officials said.

There is damage to private and public property due to stone-pelting, throwing of acid and soda bottles. Police tried to bring the situation under control by first ordering tear gas, plastic bullets and then resorted to firing, they said.
