Attacking the Devendra Fadnavis government over drought-like situation in parts of Maharashtra, NCP leader Dhananjay Munde Tuesday called it "anti-farmer" and appealed to the peasants to dislodge the regime using their "plough handle".

Munde alleged that the government had hoodwinked farmers and claimed it was not going to support them.

The Leader of Opposition in the state Legislative Council also said that farmers will have to combat the drought-like situation on their own.

He also asked the government to offer affected farmers Rs 50,000 per hectare monetary assistance, write off power bills and waive fees of students and others.

Munde is at present visiting parched pockets in Parli assembly segment.

"This government is not going to support you as it is an anti-farmer government. Hence, pick up a plough handle to dethrone the government as you get ready to combat the crisis of drought," Munde said, according to a statement.
