Central government employees retire at the age of 60 years, while Maharashtra government staff retire at the age of 58. This has prompted the state government staff to demand increase of their retirement age.
In this backdrop, the state government has set up a six-member committee to look into the demand. The panel, headed by retired IAS officer B C Khatua, will have principal secretaries of general administration and finance department.
The two other members will be the Directors of Records and Treasury, while Deputy Secretary of the Services section will be its Member-Secretary, a Government Resolution (GR) issued here said.
There are around 15 lakh employees in more than 35 government departments across the state.
