Maha govt to ease entry of citizens into Mantralaya

Maharashtra Government is in the process of conceptualising a system to simplify and streamline the entry of citizens into Mantralaya, the state secretariat here.
"Presently the citizens have to stand in queues outside the Mantralaya for hours to gain entry. This process needs to be made more user-friendly with the help of technology," Rajesh Agrawal, Principal Secretary Information and Technology, said.
Once the ongoing Winter Session in Nagpur concludes, the IT department will hold discussions with PWD and Home ministries to devise a system to ease hurdles caused to citizens in gaining access into the state secretariat, he said.
According to Agrawal, Mumbai Police can facilitate the entry of 50,000 people in Wankhede Stadium in just 20 minutes.

"The police have to be satisfied with the secured system. We have to work out how we can integrate the physical checks with speedy online data entry," he said.
At a recent meeting, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had instructed the Home Department to put up a detailed note to him on how to simplify the entry of citizens into Mantralaya.

It was also decided that an application for this purpose may be developed with the inputs from the Directorate of Information Technology and MahaOnline, and civic infrastructure created with the help of PWD.
The Home Department, which is headed by Fadnavis himself, has been instructed that the system should be in place by January 15, 2015.

Agrawal said efforts will be made to meet the deadline.
