A 33-year-old man was arrested on Thursday for allegedly attempting to kill his wife over a petty dispute at Dombivli town in Maharashtra's Thane district, police said.
The incident took place on Tuesday night, when Kopar resident Sudhir Jadhav allegedly picked a fight with his wife over the way she dressed, severely assaulted and strangled her, an official said.
Jadhav then fled the scene with his mother, leaving the victim in an injured state, the official said, adding that the woman was rushed to a nearby hospital by her neighbours.
The victim is currently undergoing treatment at a city hospital, he said.
A case has been registered against Jadhav under section 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code with the Dombivli police station and further probe is on, Thane police public relations officer Sukhada Narkar said.
