"Prashant alias Himesh Songate was apprehended from Bhilawadi in the district in connection with the crime", Sangli Superintendent of Police Dattatray Shinde told reporters here.
In the first week of January, a 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered by unidentified persons at Bhilawadi, police had said.
The incident came to light on the night of January 5 when the body of the victim was recovered from roadside in Malavali village under Bhilawadi police station limits, they had said.
