A man was injured in the leg after four unidentified persons fired indiscriminately in the early hours of Friday in Maharashtra's Thane district, police said.
Prashant Kanthe (25) was on his way home after shutting his shop for the day when the incident happened, an official said.
"The incident happened near Shubhamvastu residential complex on the Mumbai-Agra Highway. He is being treated at a local hospital," the Vashind police station official said.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the IPC and the Arms Act against four unidentified persons and efforts were on to nab them, he said.
He said police were probing if Kanthe was the intended target of the persons who fired the shots.
