Maha to formulate norms for sale of water in jars

Maharashtra Government will formulate norms and come out with a legislation in six months on the issue of sale of water through jars, Food And Drugs Administration Minister Girish Bapat informed the State Assembly today.
Bapat, who is also the minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection, said during Question hour that there were BIS norms for bottled water but no such norms exist for sale of water in jars.
"It is the government's commitment to ensure everybody gets clean water", he said.
