For the second successive day, the Maharashtra assembly witnessed a ruckus as members from both treasury and opposition benches disrupted proceedings due to which the House had to be adjourned for the day, after a number of short adjournments.
It all began when Maharashtra Industries Minister Narayan Rane got up to submit a clarification under Rule 48 which permits individual members to clarify their position, when opposition members began protesting against Rane and raised slogans like "Remove tainted ministers".
After this, the House had to be adjourned for an hour.
When the session resumed, Nawab Malik who was in the chair did not allow opposition leader Eknath Khadse to object, quoting Rule 22 which prohibits members from saying anything after an individual has utilised Rule 48.
Rane told the House that yesterday's reference to the Jalgaon Milk Co-operative Society issue, is quite an old case and one Nagre Patil, who was a security officer was placed under suspension in connection with the case and later removed from service for his alleged dereliction of duty.
Rane said that Khadse had accused him (Rane) of being a cheat, a dacoit and a fraud who committed financial irregularities in the 1995 case.
He said Khadse was his colleague when he was Chief Minister and therefore accusing him (Rane) of being a dacoit amounts to calling himself (Khadse) a dacoit.
"If I am accused of fraud, than it applies to Khadse also," Rane asserted and demanded that Khadse should tender an apology in the House.
Rane said that two of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's trusted lieutenants, Anandiben Patel and Purushottam Solankhi, face criminal charges and hence Khadse should not talk about ministers here.
