Maharashtra thrash Assam in Santosh Trophy

Maharashtra today thrashed Assam 6-1 in their Group A match of the 69th National Football Tournament for Santosh Trophy at the Guru Nanak Stadium here.
Playing in their third game, it was the first victory for Maharashtra.
The first goal was scored by Sandesh Gadkari of Maharashtra. At half time, Maharashtra were leading 4-0.
After the breather, Maharashtra's Shabaz Pathan scored in the 84th minute and that was followed by another goal by Baldeep Singh in the 92nd minute.
The lone goal for Assam side was scored by striker Suroj Mandal in the 53rd minute.
Tomorrow Services will take on West Bengal in Group A and in Group B, Goa will face Mizoram at Jalandhar.
In group A, Services are on top with seven points from three matches.
