Mahatma Gandhi's message of communal harmony and tolerance remains as relevant as ever, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres has said ahead of his maiden visit to the country as chief of the world body.
His visit from Monday coincides with the beginning of events to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2.
Guterres said that he is happy his first visit to India coincides with the beginning of celebrations to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Gandhi, the "great social, political and spiritual leader of India who is one of the most revered figures in history."
