Maize, barley rise on pick up in demand

Prices of maize and barley edged up by upto Rs 15 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today following pick up in demand from consuming industries.

However, other grains held steady in thin trade.

Traders said uptick in demand from consuming industries mainly led to rise in maize and barley prices.

In the national capital, maize and barley settled higher at Rs 1,440-1,445 and Rs 1,490-1,500 from previous levels of Rs 1,425-1,430 and Rs 1,485-1,490 per quintal respectively.
