Maize futures traded lower by Rs 18 to Rs 1,405 per quintal today as participants cut down their positions at prevailing levels amid weak overseas cues.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, maize for delivery in March softened by Rs 18, or 1.26 per cent, to Rs 1,405 per quintal, with an open interest of 2,340 lots.
Similarly, maize for delivery in February eased by Rs 15, or 1.07 per cent, to Rs 1,390 per quintal, having an open interest of 5,760 lots.
Marketmen said besides profit booking by speculators, weak global cues mainly weighed on maize prices.
