Maize up in futures trade

Maize rose by Rs 15 to Rs 1,248 per quintal in futures trading today mostly on the back of rising demand at the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, maize for delivery in current month advanced by Rs 15, or 1.22 per cent to Rs 1,248 per quintal, in an open interest of 2,840 lots.
Maize for delivery in August also improved by Rs 9, or 0.72 per cent to Rs 1,264 per quintal, with an open interest of 18,190 lots.
Marketmen said pickup in demand in the physical market amdist restricted arrivals from growing regions, influenced maize futures prices.
