The CPI sought release of a list of those people who deposited "crores and crores" of rupees in banks last month, contending that those people including politicians were aware of the demonetization move.
The party questioned the government's decision to demonetize Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes, especially in light of its move to bring in the Rs 2,000 currency note and pitched for its withdrawal from circulation.
"The NDA government should make public names of those holding bank accounts abroad if it is sincere about fighting black money," it said.
The party observed that introduction of Rs 2,000 currency note was "causing much more difficulties" as there were not enough currency notes of lesser value.
It demanded that the exchange should be in currency notes of Rs 100, Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 only.
Claiming that no action was initiated against non-performing assets by banks, the CPI insisted a crackdown on the defaulters concerned by way of confiscating their properties.
Meanwhile, the Left party has asked its units to organise demonstrations over the issue and asked other like-minded parties to join in the protests.
