West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is expected to go to Delhi on Wednesday to visit President Pranab Mukherjee who underwent coronary angioplasty.
"She is expected to go to Delhi on December 17 and visit the President who recently underwent coronary angioplasty," a state secretariat source said.
Banerjee's visit to Delhi comes at a time when Trinamool Congress has decided to intensify campaign against alleged 'political vendetta' by BJP following the arrest of state Transport Minister and a key party organiser in Bengal, Madan Mitra.
TMC continued its protests over the issue and organised a procession in Kolkata today, while its MPs staged a protest outside Parliament House against Mitra's arrest in the Saradha ponzi scheme case and accused the Centre of misusing CBI.
Former Indian soccer stars Shyam Thapa and Gautam Sarkar were among those who took part in the march.
CBI had on Friday arrested Mitra, also the state's Sports Minister, after questioning him in connection with the Saradha scam spurring Banerjee to launch a tirade against the Centre for 'political victimisation of Bengal'.
"The campaign against BJP's political vendetta will be intensified," Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee, who is also Mamata Banerjee's nephew, had said yesterday.
