Man acquitted of charge of trying to rape woman employee

A man, accused of trying to rape his employee, has been acquitted by a Delhi court on the grounds that the woman had lodged a false complaint against him with an "ulterior motive" to extract money from him.
Additional Sessions Judge Virender Bhatt absolved the man, a West Delhi resident who had allegedly attempted to rape the woman at his residence after making her consume sedative- laced soft drink, saying she had fabricated a concocted story.
"It is clear from evidence on record that no occurrence at all had taken place with the woman and she has fabricated a false and concocted story in this regard in order to implicate the accused falsely in this case," the judge said.

"It is evident that the woman had lodged a false complaint against the accused with ulterior motive to extract money from him," the court said relying on the statement of the man's colleagues.
"There was nothing to stop her from apprising her family members or office colleagues about the incident. She did not do so. She has nowhere explained why she remained totally silent after the incident," the court said.
The accused's colleagues, who were produced as defence witnesses, had deposed that the complainant was demanding Rs 15,000 from him whereas her salary was only Rs 10,000 and she had worked only for 15 days.

They had further said that the woman had forced one of the colleagues to accompany her to the police station to lodge a false case in order to get more money, the court noted.

"Resultantly, I do not find any truth in prosecution case at all. Accused is liable to be acquitted," the judge said.
The court also said these incidents were only "a figment of imagination of the woman's mind and no such incident, in fact, had taken place".
According to the police, the woman had alleged that on two separate occasions the accused had misbehaved with her, the first on August 15, 2014 and the second three days later.

The accused was charge sheeted for the offences of attempt to rape and criminal intimidation under the IPC.
The court, however, rejected the woman's contentions saying her deposition was full of "embellishments".
