The deceased was identified as 23-year-old Neetu whose body was found stuffed in a bag at Yamuna Khadar near Mayur Vihar metro station this morning on the instance of her husband.
Deputy Commissioner of police (East), Ajay Kumar said that Neetu was married to Om Prakash around seven months ago and lived in Ghaziabad. Since June 8, she has been living with her parents in east Delhi's Kalyanpuri area.
He then drove the car to an isolated place and strangulated her. He stuffed the body in a bag and dumped it at Yamuna Khadar, said Kumar.
He then reached Neetau's home and then informed her family that she did not turn up to meet him and then approached the police along with the his wife's father stating his wife has gone missing. Following their complaint the police lodged a missing complaint.
During investigation, it was found that Neetu was seen alone in CCTV footage at Metro Station Mayur Vihar, Phase-I, heading towards Noida on June 21. In another CCTV footage he was seen with Om Prakash at Metro Station Sector-18, Noida, UP.
"This was a major contradiction in the statement of Om Prakash. On the basis of suspicion, he was put under scanner which resulted in his confession to the crime. He told the police that he had killed his wife as he had a doubt over her character because whenever he would call her, her cell phone remained busy," said the police.
Police said that the couple had suspected each other of having extra marital affairs. They used to indulge in heated arguments regularly.
Meanwhile, Dinesh Kumar, father of Neetu, alleged that Om Prakash used to harass his daughter over dowry. Police said that Om Prakash was MBA degree holder and worked with a telecom service provider company. He has no previous involvement in any criminal case.
