A married woman and her suspected lover were allegedly attacked by her brother-in-law here in the parking of a city mall when they came out after watching a movie, police said.
The incident took place last night and the attacker was identified as Anand Tiwari, the brother of a soldier in the Australian Army Vikas Tiwari, to whom the woman was married, MP Nagar Police Station In-charge, Brajesh Bhargava told reporters today.
The injured duo were admitted to a private hospital and Anand was arrested after the attack.
The 26-year-old woman belongs to Vidisha and got married to Vikas in 2011. After marriage she had gone to Australia and stayed with her husband for over a year. Later, she returned and started living with her friend in Arera Colony, police said.
Subsequently, she came in contact with one Rohan Sahni and fell in love with him. She was also planning to marry him.
When Anand came to know about it he objected to her relations with Sahni and attacked them last night, police said.
In her statement to the police, the woman alleged that Vikas has married another woman in Australia and also had kids with her following which she decided to come back to Bhopal.
She also alleged that her in-laws were harrassing her in the name of dowry and were trying to capture her property in Vidisha, police added.
