Man arrested for impersonating as IAS officer, serving in CVC

Police has arrested a Law graduate for impersonating as an IAS officer serving at Chief Vigilance Commission(CVC) here, from Mumbai.
Accused Vinay Kumar Khatu, a resident of Santacruz East in Mumbai, was arrested in connection with a case registered by an under secretary of CVC at Kotla Mubarakpur police station on August 8, said Ishwar Singh, DCP(south).
The police complaint mentioned that Khatu impersonated as an IAS Officer posted at the Central Vigilance Commission and defrauded people on large scale.
The complaint mentioned that no such officer is working in the Central Vigilance Commission.
A police team supervised by Additional DCP(south) Manishi Chandra nabbed the accused from Mumbai recently, said the officer.
The police team also seized visiting cards having emblem of Government of India bearing the description, Vinay Kumar Khatu, IAS, Deputy Director-Admin, Central Vigilance Commission, and ID Card of Bar Council, the officer said.
During interrogation, Vinay told police that did his LLB from Pune in 2004 and started practice as an advocate at Alibag Court.
He also started dealing in property alongwith preparation for Civil Services Examination. When his relatives and friends started asking him about his clearing the exams, he felt embarrassed as he failed to clear the prestigious exam, he said
After some time, he announced that he has cleared IAS exam and was posted as Deputy Director in Central Vigilance Commission, New Delhi.
He got his visiting cards printed and also updated his status as an IAS officer on various social sites and also while uploading his videos on YouTube, added the officer.
