Mohit Pandey, a resident of Sangrampur police station area was arrested today for kidnapping his cousin Neeraj Pandey, while the duo was on their way to Kalikan Dham last evening, Superintendent of Police, Amethi Hira Lal said.
The cousins were attacked by three unknown miscreants near Bhausinghpur village of Sangrampur area who fled with Neeraj in a car, he said.
A ransom of Rs 1 lakh was demanded by the kidnappers, he added.
The abductee was released by the culprits after increased pressure from the police investigation, Lal said, adding that a police team including Circle officers of Gauriganj and Amethi was formed to look into the case.
The other assailants who are absconding will be nabbed soon, they added.
