One person has been arrested for allegedly killing a deer in Jharkhand's Palamau district, forest officials said Tuesday.
The deer entered Rahiya village from a nearby forest to drink water when it was caught and allegedly killed by Bablu Kumar and four others on Sunday, Divisional Forest Officer Ashish Kumar said.
On being informed about the incident, the forest department officials searched some houses and found two kg fresh meat of the animal, Kumar said.
Kumar was produced before a local court, which sent him to 14 days judicial custody, he said.
The DFO said searches were on to nab four of Kumar's accomplices as they were also allegedly involved in the killing of the deer.
