Man arrested for making threatening calls to industrialist

The Hyderabad Police today arrested a 33-year-old man on charge of making threatening calls and sending messages to a prominent industrialist and attempting to extort Rs 80 lakh from him.
Accused Sarath Kumar Sahu, an electrician, and native of Odisha was nabbed from Jubilee Bus stand here based on a complaint lodged from an industrialist in Hyderabad, who runs a family business with its head office in Mumbai, a release from Hyderabad Police said.
In the complaint lodged on September 17, the victim said he was receiving messages and calls from an unknown number to his phone number wherein the caller was using very vulgar language.
The complaint further said the caller also threatened that he has installed CCTV cameras in his bathroom and recorded all the videos of his family.
The accused threatened the complainant of dire consequences by demanding to pay Rs 80 lakh to him, police said.
The caller also threatened the victim that he will post the videos of his family on internet and social media, if matter is informed to anyone, police said.
Following the complaint a case was registered under IPC sections 387 (putting person in fear of death or of grievous hurt, in order to commit extortion) and 507 (criminal intimidation by an anonymous communication), the police said.
During course of investigation he was apprehended at Jubilee Bus stand.
