Acting on a tip off, Hareram was arrested from Siddhaur road in Kothi area of Barabanki, they said.
He was wanted in connection with murder of Ram Sahay Singh (55), head of Sant Purshottam Dham Ashram in Rasanda, who was shot dead on the night of May 15, police said.
A country made pistol has also been recovered from the accused, they added.
