The girl, who had gone to Bhaneda from Loni with her parents to attend a marriage ceremony on April 1, went missing in the evening, Superintendent of Police (rural area) Rakesh Pandey said.
The body was recovered the next day from a sugarcane field, he said, adding a number of persons were detained and interrogated in connection with the case.
Yesterday, the accused identified as Arun Gupta (35) who was also detained, confessed to luring the girl to his crusher and raping her. He later smothered her to death and buried the body in the sugarcane field, Pandey said.
