The accused Ajay Kumar had faked the shootout along with his associate Nakul Beniwal on late Tuesday. Beniwal has also been arrested.
South District DCP Ishwar Singh said Ajay had got himself shot on his leg by Beniwal, only to frame Vicky, who was having an affair with his former girlfriend.
The officer said that suspicion grew after inconsistencies were noticed in the statement of the prime witness in the case, who was with the accused during the crime.
Vicky was having an affair with Ajay's ex-girlfriend. Ajay wanted to take revenge from Vicky by falsely implicating him in a criminal case," Singh said.
Police have recovered one country made pistol, one empty cartridge and the car used in the crime.
