N Ravi, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Zaheerabad, said that Jadhav Jaipal alias Jai Singh, resident of Sarja Rao Pet Tanda of Mogdampally mandal, was a habitual offender and was arrested by police yesterday in a vehicle theft case.
He complained of uneasiness in the evening and was taken to a local hospital first. He was then shifted to Gandhi hospital in Hyderabad for better treatment, where he died.
His relatives, however, alleged that Jaipal had been arrested on June 19, and he died due to custodial torture.
