Mukesh Rajput and his 32-year-old wife Neeta had a quarrel yesterday during which the husband pushed her, and as she hit the ground. Seeing blood coming out of her head, he panicked and ran away from home, police said.
When Rajput returned home, he found his wife dead, they said.
The husband, initially alleged it to be a case of theft and murder but after the forensic team found nothing, the needle of suspicion moved towards the husband, who was then brought to the police station for interrogation, during which he narrated the whole incident, Swarup Nagar Circle Officer, DSP Rakesh Nayak said.
Neeta's family has registered a case of dowry harassment against Rajput, Nayak said, adding that police has initiated action against the husband.
