Dhananjay Rajendra Wankhede (29), hailing from village Shendri in Darwha tehsil, is a post-graduate student of Date College here.
According to Dhananjay, his father had taken a loan of Rs one lakh from the private finance company one and a half years ago, but could not pay an instalment of Rs 16,000 recently due to a crop failure.
The employees of the finance company started visiting their house and threatened to seize it. They also pasted a notice on the house.
Yesterday he tried to meet the collector and submit a complaint, but as the collector was busy in a meeting, so he obtained some pesticide, sat in front of a CCTV camera outside collector's chamber, and drank the pesticide, he said.
After he collapsed, he was rushed to the hospital. His condition was now out of danger.
Dhananjay also alleged that touts of banks were operating in the villages, offering to facilitate loans. Some of them took money from farmers promising to get a bank loan and ran away, but police were apathetic, he said.
