The accused, Jaswinder Singh, a resident of Ajit Nagar, was booked for assaulting and removing turban of police head constable Ranjit Singh last evening, they said.
On receiving a complaint of domestic dispute from a woman, the head constable went to her house where her neighbour Jaswinder Singh tried to intervene in the matter, they said.
But when Jaswinder was asked to stay away, he assaulted the head constable, removed his turban and tore his uniform, they said.
However, Jaswinder managed to escape from the spot, police said.
