The accused, identified as Mandeep, posed as Officer on Special Duty to the then Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, allegedly took Rs 20.5 lakh from the complainant Jagdish for getting his daughter a job in the police department in September 2016, police said.
The accused even gave two cheques, of Rs 10 lakh and Rs 10.5 lakh, to the complainant but both bounced, police said.
Phagwara Superintendent of Police(SP) Parminder Singh Bhandal said the accused was booked on the charge of cheating.
