Peeved at being refused a share of land compensation money received from the government, a man shot at his father here and injured him, police said today.
The victim lodged an FIR at the Jarcha police station against four people, including his son, in connection with the incident, they said.
Mir Ali, resident of Jarcha, used to live in a separate house to avoid regular quarrels that broke out between him and his sons and their wives, they added.
Ali was faced with acute financial problems as his sons kept all the money earned from sale of crops grown on land owned by the family, police said.
To overcome his problems, Ali sold off 11 bighas of land last year and deposited proceeds worth Rs 80 lakh in a bank account, they said.
One of his sons regularly fought with him over the money, officials said.
Ali got into a heated argument again with his son yesterday over the money. The accused later came to Ali's place and fired at him as soon as the latter opened the door, they said.
The bullet grazed his right hand and Ali fell unconscious, police said.
Nazar Ali, Mir Ali's elder son, and his associates had fired the shot at him, Jarcha SHO Shailendra Pratap Singh said, adding that the injured was admitted at the district hospital, where his condition was stable.
All the accused were absconding, Singh added.
