Man gets 10 years' RI for kidnapping, raping minor girl

A local court sentenced an auto-driver here to 10-year rigorous imprisonment for abducting and raping a 17-year-old Intermediate second year girl student in June last year.
The court of First Metropolitan Sessions Judge yesterday convicted Mohammed Aslam Chawoos under section 6 of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act besides under 366-A (kidnapping a minor) and awarded a five-year RI. Both the sentences will run concurrently.
Chawoos, an auto driver at Chandrayanagutta, who used to ply his seven seater auto found that the victim a student of a college in Santoshnagar used to travel regularly in his auto. He started teasing her and was even admonished by her, but he continued to trouble her, police said today.

On June 26 last year, Aslam threatened to pour acid on her and forced the victim to board his auto and took her to to MGBS bus-stand here. The accused took her to Karimnagar and raped her at a lodge there and brought her back to Hyderabad and again sexually assaulted her at a lodge in Afzalgunj, police said.
Based on the complaint of victim's father, a case was registered by Santoshnagar police. Aslam was arrested on June 28. After conducting trial in the court the accused was convicted, a police release said today.
