A court here has sent a man to three years in jail for molesting his minor cousin and has imposed a fine of Rs 9,000 on him which is to be paid to the victim.
The victim is also entitled for a compensation of Rs 50,000, which will be given to her by the state government.
Public Prosecutor Reena Chauhan said that on November 20, 2016 when the victim and her sister's parents were not in the house in Shimla district, the convict came to sleep there at night. He molested the victim after bolting the door of the room whee she was alone.
When the victim raised an alarm, her uncle and aunt came to her rescue, but the convict managed to flee. He was later arrested and charged under relevant sections of the IPC and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Chauhan said.
