Additional Sessions court judge V N Tambi in his verdict delivered yesterday held Shaikh Ahmad guilty of murdering Sairabi (55) at her village Pailpada in the district on July 31, 2012.
The court also handed down rigorous imprisonment of two years to Shaikh under section 201 of IPC for destroying evidence. Both the sentences will run concurrently.
According to prosecution, Shaikh had been harbouring grudge against the victim as she had sent away her daughter Farzana to Ahmedabad due to frequent ill-treatment being meted out to the latter by Shaikh.
