According to the prosecution, accused Gundappa Chinnatambi alias Vadivel (29) and the victim lived in the same locality in suburban Juhu.
On January 31, the accused sexually assaulted her. After returning home, the girl narrated the incident to her mother, and medical examination confirmed that she had been subjected to unnatural sex.
The accused was arrested the next day, and was charged with various offences under the IPC including unnatural sex, and under the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences Act, 2012.
Special judge S D Tulankar accepted the prosecution case and sentenced Vadivel to seven years' rigorous imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 14,000 on him.
