The case date backs to February 13, 2008 when during an inspection by the Discom officials at Kumar's residence it was found that he was involved in direct theft of electricity by illegally tapping from incoming service of two meters. The total connected load was found to be 23.10 KW for industrial purpose. A bill of Rs 16,58, 064 was issued against Kumar for illegally using electricity.
The inspecting team also found him illegally tapping electricity from main service cable by laying illegal PVC wires in the same premises. Here, the total connected load was found to be 19.255 KW and again being used for industrial purpose. A bill of Rs 12,37,073 was issued against him in this theft case. A second FIR was registered in this case under the same section of Electricity Act.
The Special Electricity Court, Rohini, found him guilty in both cases and passed the order on September 27, 2013.
