A 45-year-old man was today arrested in connection with the rape and murder of a five-year-old girl in a village here, police said.
On June 3, the girl was murdered after rape allegedly by the accused Devi Singh of Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, police said.
"While on the run, the accused got himself admitted to a hospital by faking illness, but the police managed to catch him," an officer said.
Police officials said the accused confessed to committing the rape and murder after abducting the victim from her home.
The knife allegedly used by the accused was recovered, they said.
"The accused worked in a farm house. The body of the girl had been found from a drain near the farm house," an official said.
