A 63-year-old man was arrested today for allegedly getting his son murdered by hiring contract killers here, police said.
Naran Lavji Vasoya, a retired employee of the state Accountant General office, allegedly hired services of two men to murder his son Dipesh Vasoya (33) as the latter used to beat him up frequently.
Police claimed that Vasoya has confessed to the crime.
The investigators also suspect that as Dipesh had Rs 25 lakh insurance on him, it could be also a possible motive behind the murder.
Vasoya had offered Rs 5 lakh to Mansukh Vadoliya (42), who, along with his nephew Ravi Vadoliya (23), allegedly killed Dipesh on the night of June 21.
They were later arrested by Gandhidham police and during their interrogation disclosed that they had taken the 'supari' (murder contract) from Vasoya.
Dipesh's body was found yesterday morning at Raiya Dhar locality here.
"Vasoya first stole Dipesh's mobile phone and gave it to Mansukh who in turn called Dipesh and asked him to come to Raiya Dhar area to collect the handset. When Dipesh went there, the duo hit on his head with an iron rod, resulting into his death," city Police Commissioner Anumpamsinh Gehlot told reporters in a press conference.
He said Vasoya's role in the murder came to the fore following interrogation of Mansukh and Ravi.
On the trigger behind the murder, the police official said Vasoya told them that Dipesh used to beat him often.
"Dipesh had an insurance of around Rs 25 lakh. And Vasoya might have ordered the killing to get money," Gehlot said, adding that further investigation is on.
