Chetan Prakash (28), a ward boy in a hospital, was apprehended for allegedly strangling Rakhi (28) last Wednesday at her house in Swaroop Nagar, P Karunakaran, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North- West), said.
On the fateful day, Prakash had visited Rakhi when she told him that he was not giving her gifts after his marriage.
"When he told Rakhi that he would not be able to give her gifts, she threatened him that she will disclose about their illicit relationship.
"The belongings of the woman, including the gold ear rings, silver pajeb and mobile phone, was removed by the accused to mislead investigators about the motive of murder," he said.
He said Vicky was arrested after the police tracked down the location of the mobile phone of the victim. All the items stolen by him have also been recovered.
