Man held with 60 kg Marijuana in Delhi

Sixty kg Marijuana being smuggled in a car was seized and the driver of the vehicle was arrested in Uttam Nagar here, police said today.
Acting on a specific input, a crime branch team arrested the accused in Uttam Nagar area, on March 21 and seized Marijuana packed in three bags from the vehicle he was driving, DCP (Crime Branch) Bhisham Singh said.
A case under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act was registered against the car driver, he said.
The arrested accused was a driver of an inter-state drug trafficking gang headed by Balkesh alias Ballu, Singh said.
During interrogation, the accused told police that he started working with south west Delhi's bootleggers Ballu and Hari Prakash Kataria last year.
He used to supply their illicit liquor in different parts of Delhi in return of Rs 3,000 per trip, the officer said.
The accused told police that Ballu later started supplying Marijuana in the national capital for which he alongwith Honey and Thapa used to smuggle the drug. The accused used to get Rs 5,000 for each trip of smuggling Marijuana.
"The absconding accused Ballu has wide network of illegal drugs in Delhi and other states of the country. Regular raids are being conducted to nab him and his associates Hari Prasad Kataria, Honey and Thapa who are also absconding," the officer said.
