In a routine checking drive ahead of Diwali, Virendra Banthia (45) was detained and a bag containing Rs 2000, Rs 500 and Rs 100 notes was seized, GRP police station in-charge Sampat Ram said.
There was Rs 23.48 lakh in the bag. Income Tax officials have been informed about the seizure, he said, adding that the accused was travelling from Lucknow to Bikaner by the train.
Banthia, a trader, claimed that he had gone to Lucknow to collect the cash from a client and was returning to Bikaner, the GRP said
