Man injured in clash over sand mining

A man was injured in a clash between two groups over alleged lifting of sand along the Ganga canal at Chitora village here, police said today.
Kala sustained bullet injuries when people from Khatka and Dahakheri villages had a violent confrontation over lifting of sand along the Ganga canal yesterday, they said.
The seriously injured man has been admitted to a hospital, police said.
A tractor trolley was damaged in the incident, police said, adding that security has been tightened in the area after reports of an active sand mafia along the Ganga canal.
The Ganga canal has been closed from October 3 to October 23 for maintenance work by the UP irrigation department.
