Sub-Inspector Jagatsingh Thakur of Nizampura Police Station said the man went to the terrace of the building, which houses headquarters of the civic body, and jumped off at around 10 am. The terrace is usually locked but was kept open for kite flying on the occasion of Makar Sankranti.
He died on the spot. The deceased was yet to be identified and the body has been sent to a hospital for post- mortem.
The cause of of the suicide was still not known, Thakur said, adding police have registered a case of accidental death.
