Vijay Bhagade had on September 19 tried to enquire about his father-in-law's ration card being allegedly taken away by a person in Gurav Pada hamlet of Palghar's Vikramgadh taluka, assistant police inspector at Vikramgadh Police Station Sunil Nandvalkar said today.
The two accused - Bhagwan Markya Gurav and Sandesh Bramhane - got annoyed on being questioned about the ration card and severely beat up Vijay, following which he collapsed.
The victim was later admitted to a hospital where he died on Wednesday.
Vijay's wife Kaushalya then lodged a complaint against the two persons who were arrested last night, Nandvalkar said.
