The incident took place when Madhav Sahni and Malik Yadav and their men clashed with each other and resorted to indiscriminate firing in which Sahni (45) sustained a bullet injury and died on the spot, Superintendent of Police (SP) Saurabh Kumar Sah said.
Two supporters of Sahni also sustained bullet injuries and were taken to hospital, he said.
The clash between Sahni and Yadav, both have a criminal background, took place in the backdrop of a scuffle between their children at a school during the national tricolour hoisting function earlier in the day, Sah said.
Fifteen cartridges were recovered from the spot.
