Bhagwan Singh Kirad took his wife Chandrakala, 45, to their agricultural field on July 28, about two km from their house in Gurjarkhedi village, where he murdered her and threw the body in a drain, Circle in-charge of Eklera police station Ashok Kumar said.
He returned home and later told his son Makhan Singh that his mother had gone to her parents' home, the officer said.
Kirad fled the home next day and informed his son about the murder after which Makhan informed police and the body was fished out of the drain, he said.
